Deleting your data

1. Sign in at freehug.me.
2. Go to your settings.
3. Choose Leave freehug.me.

That is the whole process. It takes effect at once.

• Your account and your email address.
• Your pseudonym, profile, the place you gave, your year of birth and your prompt answers.
• Every photograph you uploaded, removed from storage rather than merely hidden.
• Your albums and everyone's permission to see them.
• Hugs you sent and received, and any hug request of yours.
• Everyone you said yes or no to, every match, and every message in those conversations.
• Anyone you had blocked.

Records of moderation decisions and our internal staff audit log are kept, so that decisions about safety stay reviewable afterwards. They refer to an account that no longer exists and contain no profile, no photographs and no messages.

Emails we already sent you are in your inbox, not ours, and we cannot take them back. You can delete those yourself.

Deleting your freehug.me account as above removes everything we hold, including the connection to that account. You can also remove freehug.me from within Facebook (Settings → Apps and Websites) or Google (Third-party apps with account access) — but note that removing it there stops you signing in and does not by itself delete what we hold. Use the steps above for that.

Email care@freehug.me from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. We will do it and confirm, normally within a few days. We will not ask you why, and we will not try to talk you out of it.
