The rules of the place, in plain words. By using freehug.me you agree to these.

What this is, and what it is not

freehug.me is a place where people give each other hugs — small messages of kindness — share photographs, and if they want to, meet each other. It is run by Saptarang Ventures (OPC) Private Limited.

Operated by Saptarang Ventures (OPC) Private Limited · CIN U43900MH2023OPC413456

It is not a helpline, not counselling, not therapy, and not medical, legal or financial advice. Nobody here is a professional anything, and we cannot promise that anyone will answer. If you need real help, the people who do that properly are here, and they are better at it than we are.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or over. You must not have been removed from freehug.me before. One account each.

The two rules

  • Be kind. That is what everyone is here for.
  • Nobody ever asks anybody for money. Not for any reason, not once, however good the story. If somebody does, tell us and they will be gone the same day. This one is absolute and there are no circumstances that excuse it.

Things that will get you removed

  • Asking another member for money, or offering it.
  • Sexual content sent to somebody who did not ask for it, and any sexual content involving anyone under 18 — which we report.
  • Harassment, threats, hatred, or deliberate cruelty to somebody who is having a hard time.
  • Pretending to be somebody you are not, or using photographs that are not yours.
  • Selling, recruiting, advertising, or bringing people here to move them somewhere else.
  • Sharing anything another member wrote or any photograph they showed you, anywhere outside freehug.me, without their permission.
  • Trying to work out who somebody is, or contacting them off this site after they have asked you not to.

Your words and pictures are yours

You keep everything you write and upload. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content and show it to the people you have chosen to show it to. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account. We never use your words or your photographs for advertising, for training anything, or for anything you did not intend.

Only upload photographs you have the right to share, and do not upload photographs of other people who have not agreed to it.

Removal, and how we decide

We can restrict or remove any account, at any time, if we think somebody is being harmed or is likely to be. We will act on less than certainty, because waiting for proof while somebody is being hurt is the wrong error to make.

That means we will sometimes remove somebody who did nothing wrong. We are saying so here rather than pretending otherwise. There is one review by a second person, and then the decision stands.

Membership, and money

Hugs are free and always will be. Nobody having a bad night should ever meet a price, and nothing on that side of the site is ever behind a payment.

A membership buys the meeting side, for a fixed period, paid in advance. It does not renew by itself, we do not store your card, and nothing is ever charged silently — when the period runs out it simply stops, and we email you before it does. So there is no subscription to cancel and none to forget.

Prices are shown in rupees in India and in dollars elsewhere, before you pay, and you are charged the amount you were shown. When we refund, and how long it takes, is here — the short version is seven days for any reason at all.

If your account is removed for breaking the two rules above, the membership goes with it and is not refunded.

Leaving

You can go whenever you like, from your settings, and everything of yours is deleted straight away. Exactly what gets deleted is here. There is no waiting period and nobody will ask you to reconsider.

What we can and cannot promise

We will run this carefully and take safety seriously. We cannot promise the site is always available, that anyone will reply to you, that other people are who they say they are, or that nothing will go wrong. The service is provided as it is.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what other members do or say, for anything that happens between you and another member on or off this site, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

If you meet somebody

People here may choose to meet in person. That is your decision and your risk, not ours — we do not check anybody's identity or background. Meet in public, tell somebody where you are going, and leave whenever you want to. Nothing about using this site obliges you to meet anyone or to keep talking to anyone.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Nashik, Maharashtra have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer somewhere with laws that give you rights you cannot sign away, this does not take those away from you.

Changes

If we change these in a way that matters we will tell members by email. Carrying on using the site after that means you accept the new version.
